Using Lesson Plan It means you accept these terms. They're written in plain English on purpose, because you should be able to read them in the time it takes the kettle to boil.
This is the most important section, so it goes first.
Lesson Plan It generates lesson plans anchored to the Australian Curriculum v9 at strand and topic level. Anchored means we build lessons inside the right subject, strand and year-level band, using the curriculum's structure as our map.
Anchored does not mean verified. We do not claim, and you should not assume, that any lesson is verified against, aligned to, or guaranteed to satisfy specific AC v9 content descriptions, your school's scope and sequence, or your department's requirements. Lesson Plan It is a planning aid. It gives you a strong, runnable starting point in under a minute; it does not replace your professional judgement.
You remain professionally responsible for every lesson you teach. Before using any generated lesson with students, you must check it yourself for curriculum suitability, factual accuracy, age-appropriateness, safety, and fit with your school's policies and your students' needs. If a lesson and your judgement disagree, your judgement wins.
Lesson Plan It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by ACARA, any education department, or any school system. References to the Australian Curriculum are references to ACARA's published curriculum, which is available under a Creative Commons licence at australiancurriculum.edu.au, and we encourage you to check our work against it. Our differentiation levels borrow the plain language of the national proficiency standards (Strong, Developing, Needs additional support) to describe how a lesson is pitched; they are not NAPLAN results, classifications or predictions of any student's performance, and NAPLAN and ACARA are not affiliated with and do not endorse this tool. Lesson Plan It is free for teachers, and we'd like to keep the rules short. Here they are.
Use school-approved AI only. The "use your own AI" feature builds a prompt for you to paste into an AI tool of your choice. If your school or department has an approved tool (such as a departmental walled-garden AI), use that one. If your school prohibits AI tools, don't use this feature at all. You're responsible for following your employer's AI and technology policies, and these terms don't override them.
Never put student data into AI tools, or into Lesson Plan It. Don't type student names, photos, health information, learning needs tied to identifiable students, or anything else that identifies a student into the topic field, the paste box, or any prompt you send to a third-party AI. Lesson Plan It is designed to hold no student data, and pasting student information into an external AI tool may breach your school's privacy obligations, not just ours. Describe needs generically ("a student who finds handwriting difficult"), never personally.
Don't misrepresent the output. Don't present a generated lesson as endorsed by ACARA, a department, or us, and don't remove the parts of a lesson's framing that make its origin clear when sharing it with colleagues who will rely on it.
Don't abuse the service. No scraping, bulk-extracting or repackaging the lesson bank or prompt text for a competing product, no attempting to interfere with the site, and no unlawful use.
If you breach these rules in a way that creates risk for students, schools or us, we may restrict or refuse access to the service and its updates.
Lessons you generate or paste in are yours to use for teaching. You can print them, adapt them, share them with your team, and leave them for the regular teacher. What you paste into the app stays in your browser and is never sent to us, so you're also the only one responsible for what it contains. Where a lesson began life in a third-party AI tool, your rights in that text also depend on that tool's terms, which are between you and them.
The Lesson Plan It name, the app, the site, the pedagogy library, the prompt design and the offline lesson bank belong to [Lesson Plan It] or its licensors. We grant you a free, non-exclusive licence to use them for your own teaching and planning. That licence doesn't include reselling the service, republishing the bank, or building a commercial product from our prompts or lesson content.
The Australian Curriculum itself belongs to ACARA and is licensed by ACARA under Creative Commons; nothing in these terms claims otherwise.
Lesson Plan It is free, and it's provided as is and as available. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or right for your specific class, school or curriculum context. Lesson content is generated and banked in good faith, and our validator checks structure rather than truth, so errors are possible and you should expect to catch some.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other legislation that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent our liability can be limited, and where the service is not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use, our liability for a failure is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from: how a lesson performs in your classroom; decisions you or your school make in reliance on generated content; content produced by a third-party AI tool in the "use your own AI" flow; or your breach of your school's policies. The professional responsibility described in section 1 sits with you precisely because we can't see your classroom, your students or your context, and we've priced the product (free) accordingly.
The AI tools you paste our prompts into, your school's systems, and our own suppliers (such as Google, whose analytics and forms infrastructure we use as described in our Privacy Policy) are governed by their own terms. We're not responsible for them, and using them alongside Lesson Plan It doesn't make them part of our service.
We may update, add to, or retire parts of the service at any time, including the lesson bank and free features. Because the app installs to your device as an offline web app, a version you've already loaded may keep working even if the hosted service changes, but we don't promise ongoing support for old versions. We may also update these terms; the version at [lessonplanit.com.au] with the latest date applies, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
